Having bipolar disorder does not mean the person cannot have meaningful, lasting relationships. It may mean there will be issues to address from time to time. Just like people are different, someone’s bipolar disorder will be different. There may be common traits, but the person’s personality will play a big part on how the disorder is managed.

The problem that can arise is when the person has not been officially diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

Not understanding why your partner reacts in certain ways can be confusing and frustrating. You may feel the urge to help the person, or this you yourself did something wrong.

Not knowing the symptoms, you may never know if a person has the disorder. If there are actions and moods that seem off, or unexpected, this may be the reason you need to further learn about the disorder. For many, just reading many of the symptom descriptions can be an eye-opener. You may find yourself saying, ‘This is just like my partner’. Of course, a doctor will make the diagnosis. Once diagnosed the management of the disorder will be easier.

This can apply to both a girlfriend, and a boyfriend.

I’ve only just been diagnosed. i never really understood bipolar and its effects on people. now I am one of those people, isn’t life strange? hope everyone is okay.

I had it as a teen, I didn’t know what it was then, and just came back about five months ago.. Sorry u have to deal with this so young, but hopefully you can get on Meds and things will be better.

God help me stay stable through this. Blessings welcome friends. No one do anything super spectacular while I’m gone.

I now look at suicidal feelings more in a symbolic sense. Such as parts of me that need to die. Or my Ego that needs to go away and let me be free and One with the universe. Thinking like this has greatly helped dissipate the fearful energy and urge to act on the feelings.

Rough couple days and the depression kicked in real fast and outta the blue

Learn the skills for personal assertiveness in the book designed to help people ‘break out of their shell’ and gain personal power. This is ideal for:

Assertiveness Training for Professionals

Overcoming Shyness

Personal Power in the Workplace

Dealing With Challenging Work Situations

Empowerment and Assertiveness is not something that always comes naturally in your personal or professional life. It is possible to overcome the assertiveness issues that hold you back from developing professionally with self empowerment. Going for and getting what you want takes practice while learning how your own words and actions are perceived by others. A book with practice sections may be the best route compared to a week-long retreat to gloss over personal growth techniques.
