Prader Willi Syndrome
The name comes from the two doctors who first described the disorder. Characterzied by the constant compulsion and need to eat. There are also other signs and symptoms of this disorder – global developmental delay – mild mental retardation – narrow face – poor coordination and balance – sleep apnea – small feet or hands – teeth grinding – difficulty in abstract thinking – underdeveloped sex organs. Diet and exercise are one of the key treatments for this syndrome. IEP are also helpful. Complications from this can include Diabetes and heart related problems. Someone with this disorder can live with a normal life expectency with constant dieting and exercise.
