Bipolar disorder cannot go away in a single day. Symptoms displayed may not be as obvious one day, but can easily appear the next day.

Bipolar disorder symptoms can be triggered. It is essential to know these triggers and to avoid things that will cause problems.

It is difficult to reason with someone who is in a bipolar mood. In a relationship you must be aware when a Bipolar mood is present. The person you know is not ‘there’ as the Bipolar mood has taken over. It is critical to be aware of this so you do not feel responsible to “fix” or “change” a person who is Bipolar – reasoning will not work.

The Bipolar person may decide that they are okay and no longer need medication. They can feel “cured” and “normal”. This is a clear sign that Bipolar symptoms are present. A key symptom of Bipolar disorder is poor judgment.

Bipolar disorder is very difficult to understand. It is important to know what works for your partner when they are in a bipolar state.

Hard work will be required to maintain a good long-term relationship with someone who is Bipolar.
