Autism Treatment Method List
Autism Treatment Decisions
When evaluating the different treatment options for autism there are things you need to consider in your decision making process.
Things to consider:
Does the treatment method and results sound too good to be true?
Does the autism treatment method claim to cure autism? – A good sign the treatment method is questionable.
What is the purpose of the treatment – what do you want to obtain from treatment.
Are there any side effects from the treatment?
Are there strict food requirements that you may be unable to adhere to?
Is the treatment one that could cause pain to the child?
Does the treatment involve others treating or caring for the child in the treatment process?
Will you be able to afford the complete treatment course?
Is there clearly defined measures of progress in the treatment (how will you know the treatment is working).
How long will the entire process take?
Can you pause or stop treatment for any period of time?
What are the reviews of the treatment you decide on using? – Key in this question and research is to find reviews that are not provided by the treatment center, but by parents or professionals that have used the treatment.
Autism Treatment insurance – are there any options for financial aid or coverage that will cover certain treatments and not others?
There are many things to consider when finding an autism treatment method that fits your needs, and will give your child the best results. Since there is no single ‘best’ treatment choice, you will need to decide on a treatment only after careful consideration.
Several well known autism treatment methods: Floortime, TEAACH, The Son-Rise Program, ABA, Lovaas.
