Many Americans are still fighting the battle with being overweight, despite all of the different diet plans released each year. Most of this is because many Americans have very poor daily diets. Neglecting our bodies needs for proper nutrition, choosing soda over milk, French fries over broccoli, and sitting in front of the TV instead of going for a daily walk, are all major collective factors preventing us from being healthy.

The poor eating habits can make you feel tired, miserable, short-tempered, and even agitated.

The poor eating habits combined with the psychological changes can easily lead to health problems. These problems include: heart disease, weak muscles, inability to fight infections, and diabetes.

A constant diet of carbs can leave us without the fiber and vitamins we should be eating. Choosing processed foods such as breads, cakes, cookies, cereal loaded with sugar, and pancakes are all very poor diet choices. Eating this daily means you are less likely to eat foods rich in fiber and vitamins.

Sleep is also a factor in being overweight. Not getting enough quality sleep each day can weaken our immune systems and cause us to crave quick energy foods such as sugary soda, and fast acting carbs. The poor sleeping habits continue the cycle of bad eating habits. Sleep is vital to have and maintain good health. If you find yourself getting more illnesses or unable to perform physical activities you are most likely not getting proper sleep.

Start with a good sleeping habit, disconnecting from simulations such as text messages, loud music, and late night snacks or drinks with caffeine. Correcting your sleep habits may lead you on a path to better health. Starting the day well rested, you will be less likely to crave sugary carbs in the morning.

The sooner you start, the better.

How Feeling Angry Affects our Lives

The ability to manage anger is a common need for anyone who has, or knows someone that needs anger management. Anger can cause many problems for people every day. Much of he exposure to anger can come early for children who view violent television programs.

People have learned that anger can be a sign of someone who is ‘in charge’ of situations. For those that use anger, they can sometimes see that the use of aggression can help to obtain results. There is always a fine line when it comes to the use of anger vs the use of aggression. People are often the dealer or the receiver when it comes to anger.

Truthfully, a person who uses anger to get what they want are not to be considered a person in power. They are often a person who feels frustrated and, in turn, powerless to control personal situations.

The use of an anger management program can help those that want to avoid the dangerous results that can come from being constantly angry. One danger of being angry is the inability to form close friendships and romantic relationships.

Find out how an anger management program can help you in your formation of positive relationships.

Stress can come in many forms for many people. This can be largely attributed to the constant over-filling of our personal schedules. Stress can also come from the constant worry about retirement money and health issues for those who are at the age of 55 or older. The constant stress, or chronic stress, can have a powerful influence on heart related problems.

The problems that can occur are:

Sudden increases in blood pressure
Rapid heart rates
Inflammation of the arteries
Changes in typical heart rhythms

High stress levels can cause a person to refrain from physical activity and make poor diet decisions such as eating foods high in fat. This can quickly cause serious heart problems, especially for those over 55.

Recognizing the occurrence of chronic stress is key in preventing behaviors that can be detrimental to your risks of developing heart disease.

An often confused and misused term in the media to mean a person who thinks of themselves as above the law.

A Sociopath is a person who considers their own self-interest the most important aspect of any action and behavior. The actions of a Sociopath will include a complete disregard of the possible harm it can cause another person. The actions of a Sociopath can be legal, but still cause harm, physical or mental, to another person. A Sociopath will not follow ethical or moral thoughts used by others in their society.

Laws do not cover all ethical issues as there are always more ethical issues than there are current laws.

Not all self-centered actions make someone a Sociopath.

An example of an action that can be self-centered, but not illegal:

Changing the channel when someone else is watching the current program.
Cutting in line at the grocery store.

A Sociopath will learn that some behaviors can result in punishment and avoid repeating the action. The reasoning with a Sociopath will not be because they realize the behavior causes harm to another person, but because the behavior causes punishment.

For 2010 the allergy season has been very tough on those that suffer from allergies because of the changes in weather over the past 12 months. Some people who usually have allergies are experiencing worse than normal symptoms.

Trees are the primary creators of the pollen causing allergies to be more severe.

A high pollen level means 90 pollen grains for every cubic meter of air.
Very high levels means there are 1,500 grains per every cubic meter of air.

Oak trees are one of the biggest contrbutors to high pollen levels.
Other trees include: Sycamore, Elm, Maple, Juniper, and white birch trees.

In the summer the soure of high pollen levels are from grass and weed pollen.

One key way to avoid pollen is to stay indoors from noon to about 3pm because the pollen levels are at their highest levels during that time of the day.

Another way is to change clothes and shower after being outdoors because the pollen can be in your hair and clothes which will cause continued allergic reactions.

Winter time tends to have the lowest pollen counts, provided you live in a cold weather season area. For those in states such as California, Arizona and Florida the pollen counts can be higher even though it is ‘winter’ time.

Immunotherapy treatment is probably the best way to treat allergies. This involves a series of injections that helps the body to develop a defense for allergies. A medical doctor is required to receive these injections.
